Is your department hiring officers?  If so, what is the procedure?

The Township of Saddle Brook hires officers for its Police Department under the rules and regulations of the NJ Civil Service Commission (NJCSC). These rules require a written examination which is given periodically by the State. It should also be noted that the most recent hires have been through the NJCSC Intergovernmental Transfer Program. Information on this program and testing is available on their web site ( http://www.state.nj.us.csc ). We do not maintain applications for employment or resumes at the police department. Applications are submitted AFTER testing and during the investigation stage of possible candidates. It should also be noted that in Saddle Brook's form of government the Township Mayor is the appropriate authority for hiring, it is not through the Chief of Police
