Floris J. Wissekerke served the community of Saddle Brook with pride an honor for 40 years from 1951 until his retirement in 1990. During his tenure with the Saddle Brook Police Department, he served in many capacities, culminating in his appointment to Chief of Police in 1987. It was during jhis time as Chief that the Police Department computerized its records in 1989.

Chief Wissekerke was a World War II veteran, and a member of VFW Post #3484 where he served in many positions including Post Commander. One of his main passions was local history. He maintained a large collection of historical photos and documents from Saddle Brook past, going back into the 1800's.
